Tribal newspaper runs Hupa Fish War story

A sudden surge in commercial salmon fishing has opened painful rifts within the Hupa tribe. “The way it is, only a few families are profiting off of our resources here,” says Amos Pole, a Hupa tribal member. He’s critical of Hupas who sell fish to outsiders when many tribe members can’t get salmon themselves. “You have to feed your people first.”
